Building Strong Women Day: Tuesday, April 19th, 2016
In 2014, the Mayor of the City of Flint, Dayne Walling declared April 19th to be Building Strong Women Day. The greater community of Flint has honored the Building Strong Women organization (BSW) this tribute as a thank you for making a difference in the lives of so many people in the City of Flint. Created in 2006, Building Strong Women Inc. specializes in serving and assisting the needs of women from all walks of life, to excel and succeed, one woman at a time. In efforts to sustain their mission of empowerment, BSW offers shelter services and community based programs to women in transitional situations, recovery, victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault, low income, aging out of the foster care system, re-entry program participants and those dealing with homelessness. By offering women housing, BSW supplies not only a place to stay, but also provides a safe and supportive home environment for women who are not quite ready or equipped to live on their own. Believing that it can be an easier transition to independence when surrounded by others that have similar experiences and a positive attitude, BSW and their active and supportive staff members help create a safe and serene sober place that many women have and will call home on the path to get back on their feet, and on the journey to becoming strong women.
We invite you to join us in thanking the Building Strong Women organization for making such a positive mark in so many lives by celebrating Building Strong Women Day on this and every April 19th!
Details and events to be announced, but we will be sure to show our appreciation for the Building Strong Women organization and everything they do for the community!
